HELENE DISASTER RELIEF
As you are already aware, the southeastern part of the United States has been devasted by the impact of Hurricane Helene. In times of crisis, the body of Christ is called to extend a helping hand to those affected by natural disasters. We can demonstrate God’s love through practical action. Shenandoah Baptist and RVCS are supporting Blue Ridge Fellowship in Woodlawn VA as they support devastated areas in their community, as well as, the hardest hit areas in Western Carolina.
How Can You Help?
After discussions with those serving “on the ground” we are seeking to provide help that is SIMPLE-EFFECTIVE-PERSONAL & PRAYERFUL.
Here’s how: GIFT CARD DRIVE
1. Simple - We are collecting gift cards exclusively from Walmart and Lowe’s.
How Much? Any denomination is welcome. Please note the amount on the card and provide the activation receipt.
How to Donate? Gift cards can be dropped off at the church or school office.
What About Cash Donations? Designated donations can be made via cash, online click here
or check made payable to Shenandoah Baptist Church and in memo line “Disaster Relief”.
What about Charitable Giving?
Cash donations to disaster relief are tax deductible and will be noted on giving statements. Gift card donations are the responsibility of the giver to claim if desired.
2. Effective – Those on the ground have informed us that utilizing gift cards is the best way to provide help quickly and effectively.
Currently, local Lowe’s and Walmart stores are fully stocked. This allows recipients to get what meets their specific needs. Localities have an adequate supply of water and essentials.
3. Personal - Each gift card donation will go to specific individuals and families who have called requesting help through a local relief hotline or are known to be in need through canvassing.
The amount of each gift card will be according to the need and size of the family. Each gift card envelope utilized in S.W. VA will be individually prepared and contain a tract, Bible verse card, personal note, and an invitation to Blue Ridge Fellowship Church in Woodlawn VA. We will seek opportunities to assist with future needs as additional needs are presented.
4. Prayerful - Most importantly, pray for the safety and well-being of those impacted by the storm. Pray for first responders and relief workers as they tirelessly serve our community. And pray that their hearts would be open to the Gospel as it is shared.
Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus during this challenging time. Together,we can make a difference and bring hope to those who need it most.
