K2/K3/K4 For more information, please contact the Lower School Office: Phone: 540-366-2432, ext. 119 Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Licensure Exemption for K2–K4 The K2, K3, and K4 early education programs at Roanoke Valley Christian Schools (RVCS) operate under a religious exemption from state licensure. In compliance with the Code of Virginia, Section 22.1-289.031, this Center is religiously exempt from licensure and is classified as a “religiously exempt child day center.” This exemption is granted because RVCS is accredited by a statewide accrediting organization, the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), which is recognized by the Virginia State Board of Education. Religious institutions may receive this exemption upon completion of the necessary inspections and submission of required documentation related to daily operations. These records are maintained on file with the Virginia Department of Education, Division of Licensing Programs. Although exempt, RVCS voluntarily complies with state licensing standards and is committed to regular internal monitoring to ensure continued compliance. This exempt status, along with the school’s commitment to ongoing self-assessment, is communicated to parents in writing through both formal letters and the RVCS website. Textbooks Utilized: K3 class- Bob Jones University Pathways to Threes K4 class- Bob Jones University Footsteps for Fours Our Purpose and Heart for Children At the core of our program is the desire for every child to know these life-changing truths: God is Holy, He is the Creator of all things, and He lovingly sent His Son, Jesus, to pay the price for our sins. We pray each child will always remember that Jesus loves them deeply, that He died for their sins, rose again, and is coming again for those who believe and follow Him. God creates every child as unique and special, and dearly loved by Him. We affirm that the Bible is completely true, and everything we teach is rooted in a Biblical worldview—guiding children to see the world through the truth of God’s Word. BEFORE/EXTENDED CARE GENERAL RULES The Before School program ends at the 7:50 a.m. bell. If your child becomes ill before the 7:50 bell rings, the Before School worker will call a parent to come and pick up the child from school. The nurse is not on campus until 8:15 a.m. Breakfast is welcome in the Before School program. PLEASE do not bring candy, cookies, or soft drinks, etc. for breakfast. Please do not bring toys from Home for Before School Care and Extended Care. Only Nerf balls are allowed in the cafeteria for Before/Extended Care. No exceptions will be made. If your child brings other balls for Extended Care for outside play, they must be kept in or with their backpacks. When this rule is not followed, balls that are not allowed in the cafeteria may be confiscated and your child may pick them up from the director when leaving at day’s end. This rule is very important in an effort to keep the mounted projection unit, ceiling tiles and walls in good condition. Electronics are not allowed in Before and Extended Care without permission from the Director. Rudeness, disrespect, bad language, and general misbehavior will not be tolerated in the Before and Extended Care Program.
