Eagles’ Wings School of Music Our Purpose Eagles’ Wings School of Music exists to encourage excellence in music and life. With the support of parents, we aim not only to enrich the lives of our students, but to motivate them to enrich the lives of others for the glory of God, especially through service in the local church. Instructors Our faculty are skilled musicians and teachers who are well-grounded in their faith, active in their churches, and intentional in their witness. Instruction Offered We provide a minimum of 28 lessons for the year, averaging 12 in the fall and 16 in the spring. Lessons are 30 minutes per week, and cover performance technique, music literacy, interpretation, and theory. We currently offer piano (Mr. Presson & Mrs. Hanson), voice (Mrs. Hanson), and beginner to intermediate guitar (Mr. Presson). A 6-week summer session may be offered at the discretion of the teacher. Performance Opportunities All piano students will play in a spring recital. Students may also be asked to perform throughout the year for special occasions, including the Christmas program, Grandparent’s Day, and Spring Gala. Practice While expectations will vary, students generally will be expected to practice at least four days per week. Lesson Materials Instructors either secure materials and bill students through FACTS, or advise students how to secure materials. It is vital that each student brings all materials to every lesson. After one failure to do so, subsequent failure will result in the cancellation and forfeiture of the lesson. A student should always first report to the lesson in such cases so the teacher may officially cancel the lesson and see the student back to his/her classroom when applicable. Schedule 6th-12th grade RVCS students are scheduled during elective periods or before or after school. Other students are scheduled throughout the school day or before or after school. The instructor of program director will work with the student, teacher, and school to find a mutually agreeable time. The School of Music follows the RVCS calendar, and does not hold lessons when school is not in session. If RVCS is closed due to inclement weather, the School of Music will also be closed. Lessons will be rescheduled as needed. Attendance and Make-Ups Up to two lessons per semester will be rescheduled for student absences due to scheduling conflicts or illness. For scheduling conflicts, 24-hour notice must be given to the teacher. For illness, notice should be given at the first opportunity. Student no-shows will not be rescheduled or refunded. Should an instructor miss a lesson unexpectedly, the student should immediately return to his or her classroom. For Summer Session, one make-up lesson may be given to accommodate an emergency or illness. Tuition Tuition: $350 per semester ($700 per year) Optional 6-week Summer Session Tuition: $120 Mid-semester refunds are granted only when a student cannot physically continue lessons due to illness or relocation. Should we experience an emergency school shut-down, lessons may move to online or be refunded if the contracted number of lessons cannot be completed within the school year. RVCS Students RVCS students already have a FACTS account for school tuition. Your payment schedule for music lessons can differ from other FACTS payments. You will choose your lesson payment schedule when you register below. Non-RVCS Students You will need to create a FACTS account by clicking on the FACTS Family Portal on the RVCS homepage. There you will choose one of three payment options: Annual (Year In Full), Semi-annual (Semester In Full), or Monthly. Your choice should match the option you select on our lesson registration form (link below). A FACTS enrollment fee (a separate fee charged by FACTS) will be added to the first billing in the amount of $20 for the annual or semi-annual option or $50 for the monthly option. All Students Lesson charges will be posted on the 25th of each billing month, and payments are due by the 5th of the following month. Supplementary Learning Program Children deserve a Christian education regardless of learning differences or academic deficiencies. Supplementary Learning Program (SLP) at RVCS is designed to assist students who are struggling academically in the classroom and consists of multiple components to service some of these children. These children may/may not have a diagnosed learning disability but may be struggling with reading, writing, English, spelling, math, organization, study skill, or attention. Except for Teachers on Call and services provided by the Lower School Reading Specialist, all components charge an additional fee above tuition cost. Educational Therapy (National Institute for Learning Development, NILD) is designed for students (K-12) who are not achieving their academic potential due to a disorder in one of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or in using spoken or written language. A full psychological evaluation, less than three years old, with a specific diagnosis is required to be eligible for therapy. Educational and psychological testing identifies areas of weaknesses. Therapy strengthens those areas of weakness in perception and cognition through individualized instruction. Students are encouraged to think logically, formulate judgments, and solve problem through the careful questioning and cueing of the therapist. Therapists work closely with classroom teachers to provide accommodations or modifications in the regular classroom. Development of confident, independent, lifelong learners is the objective. Students, grades 9-12, receive one credit if enrolled in educational therapy for the year. RVCS employs certified NILD therapists. “NILD Educational Therapy Theory of Change” can be found here . Executive Function Coaching (EFC) is designed for students who struggle in the classroom due to ADHD or executive functioning deficiencies. Parents and teacher refer students to the SLP director anytime throughout the school year. Students are seen by the SLP teacher for at least three 30-minute sessions and may be combined in groups of two or three. EFC is available for a concentration in reading, math and/or executive function. Classroom teachers provide accommodations or modifications in the regular classroom following consultation with the SLP teacher. Testing is not required to enter EFC. “Executive Function Coaching” can be found here . Accommodations and Modifications A signed copy of the accommodation/modification form is filed in the confidential student’s cumulative file by the end of the first marking period. Academic Enrichment Program is designed for students, grades 4-5, who are higher achieving students (80th percentile or higher on math and 70th percentile or higher on reading on a standardized test) in their academic work. Students meet twice weekly for approximately 45 minutes each session for advanced studies in math, science and language arts. The Lower School Reading Specialist at RVCS plays a crucial role in enhancing the literacy skills of our students. This position involves diagnosing reading difficulties, providing targeted instruction, and collaborating with Lower School teachers to integrate effective reading strategies within the classroom. The Lower School Reading Specialist administers formal and informal assessments to determine students’ reading levels, develops and implements personalized reading plans, provides resources and support for reading instruction across the curriculum, and assists in selecting and using appropriate reading materials and resources. Teachers on Call is available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (7:50-8:15 a.m.) at no additional charge. Tutoring Services can be scheduled for students who need individual instruction. The tutor determines the fee for this service. Fees There is a fee for all divisions of the Supplementary Learning Program in addition to the regular tuition - except for Teachers on Call. Financial Aid/Scholarships: Every family at RVCS receives indirect financial aid toward tuition. Every RVCS family benefits because the tuition rates do not cover the total cost to educate the children. Renewanation/Association of Christian Schools International and the Commonwealth of Virginia have made available a scholarship fund for students entering K5 and Grade 1, as well as students coming from a public school and enrolling at any other grade level. Family Scholarship: For tuition, there is a scholarship for each additional child enrolled. There is a tuition cap *see Financial Aid Page. Christian Worker’s Scholarship: Full Time Pastors, Associate Pastors, and/or Missionaries may qualify to receive up to a 25% discount on tuition. RVCS Eagles Fall Sports Winter Sports Spring Sports Top of Page Schedule Downloads Staff Booster Club Schedule RVCS ATHLETICS "MAKING DISCIPLES OF CHRIST THROUGH SPORTS" RVCS Athletics work on developing self-discipline, endurance, self-control, diligence, sportsmanship, submission to authority, teamwork and the heart of E.A.G.L.E.S. It is a profound privilege and responsibility to represent RVCS athletically.  With this privilege comes a commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity, respect, and sportsmanship both on and off the field of play. RVCS offers an extensive program of interscholastic sports in grades 6-12. RVCS is a member of and competes in the Virginia Association of Christian Athletics (VACA). A current annual sports physical is required before an athlete can try out for a sport. RVCS holds a FREE sports physical clinic in May of each year for RVCS students. For the 2026-2027 academic year, a sports physical must be dated after May 1, 2026. Part-time students may participate on RVCS athletic teams if they are enrolled in at least three classes at RVCS and one other academic class. An Athletic Participation Fee is paid by each member of the team. This fee helps offset the cost of providing interscholastic sports, including transportation. For more information, contact the upper school office. 1. LEARNER’s PERMIT: a. Teens must be 15 years and 6 months old in order to apply for a learner’s permit. RVCS can administer the sign and general knowledge test. b. Teens must hold a learner’s permit for a total of 9 months before applying for a driver’s license. 2. CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION: a. Teens under 18 must pass the classroom portion of Driver Education. b. 36 classroom periods are required before taking the in-car instruction. 3. IN-CAR INSTRUCTION: a. Teens must pass the in-car portion of Driver’s Education. b. 7 periods of driving (behind the wheel) and 7 periods of observation. 4. ROAD TEST: On the last day of in-car instruction students take a road test. Upon passing they receive a temporary driver’s license from their instructor which is valid for 6 months. 5. COURT APPEARANCE: Within the 6-month period with their temporary driver’s license, students receive a postcard in the mail with date for them to appear in court with their parents at which time they will receive their permanent license.
