  • Tax Credit | RVCS

What is the Tax Credit Program? The state of Virginia setup the Virginia Education Improvement Scholarship Tax Credit Program (EISTC): https://www.tcfhr.org/virginia-education-improvement-scholarship-tax-credit-program/ program to help provide low income families an opportunity to attend a private school like RVCS. This program allow residents and businesses of the state of Virginia who pay state taxes the ability to allocate a portion of their payments to approved Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs). These organizations work with schools like RVCS to provide scholarships to families in need. The two main organizations RVCS partners with are Renewanation and Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI). Renewanation has a very helpful website: http://vascholarshipfoundation.org/faq/ that answers many regarding the program. With the new tax reform, there have been some slight changes, but the impact is still significant to most donors. For many donors this allows them to multiply their giving and have greater control over where their taxes monies are going. Brief Overview of How the process works: Donor completes pre-authorization process. Contact Zac Hellkamp for digital form. This does not commit the donor to anything. This is asking the state permission to give monies to an approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) and receive a tax credit. Minimum donation: $500/individual Maximum: $125,000/individual (if married, each spouse may give up to the max.) No limits for business donations. This form is either submitted directly to an SGO or the Virginia Department of Education. We recommend submitting it directly to an SGO as they can track its approval process and in many cases have approval the same day. We utilize the following two organizations: 1. Renewanantion (Curtis Cornell curtis@renewanation.org is our contact here They can send a personalized link for donor approval Process takes about a day Benefit of having them file the preauthorization form is that they can track it for a donor . 2. ACSI – Children’s Tuition Fund Have a very similar process via online Not local but the process is quick. Once approval is granted, the donor will receive the approval form. They are to submit this with their donation to one of the approved SGO’s. Donors have up to 180 days to give once approved Donors do not have to give the full amount they are approved for, but must meet the min. donation requirement in order qualify for the program. Donors are not permitted to write anything in the memo section. Donors are permitted to include a note asking for monies to be preferred to a specific school if they have qualified students. Donors may spread their donation over the 180 day (e.g., two separate check for half the amt.). If they spread the donation over more than one payment, they will need to photo copy their approval letter Once the form and donation is received, the SGO will notify the state. The state in return will issue a tax credit form to the donor who will hold on to this and apply it to the current year’s taxes. With their donation, they will receive a 65% state tax credit. This credit can be carried up to 5 years. THE PROCESS IS STRAIGHTFORWARD, BUT OFTEN MANY QUESTIONS ARISE. FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT TO US AT ANY TIME SO WE MAY ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS RBROWN@SBCFAMILY.ORG

  • Financial Aid | RVCS

Financial Aid/Scholarships: Every family at RVCS receives indirect financial aid toward tuition. Every RVCS family benefits because the tuition rates do not cover the total cost to educate the children. Renewanation/Association of Christian Schools International and the Commonwealth of Virginia have made available a scholarship fund for students entering K5 and Grade 1, as well as students coming from a public school and enrolling at any other grade level. Family Scholarship: For tuition, there is a scholarship for each additional child enrolled. There is a tuition cap *see Financial Aid Page. Christian Worker’s Scholarship: Full Time Pastors, Associate Pastors, and/or Missionaries may qualify to receive up to a 25% discount on tuition. An application must be submitted to the business office to verify all criteria are met Referral Scholarship: RVCS parents and staff can receive 10% referral scholarship if a new family enrolls a child. This applies to a new student that is enrolled for his/her first year or for any part of a school year The scholarship will be calculated near the end of the school year and 10% of the new student’s tuition will be applied to the tuition account of or will be paid to the individual making the referral. Word of mouth referrals have proven to be the best promotion for our school. As you refer families to RVCS, ask them to tell us that you referred them and you will receive the scholarships.

  • Homeschool Support | RVCS

Home School Support We at Roanoke Valley Christian Schools want to be a support to parents who have the conviction to home school their children. In an effort to express our support, the following services are available to you: Partial Enrollment: Often home schoolers will desire for their child to enroll for one or more classes or Supplementary Learning Program at RVCS. If interested, an enrollment application must be completed. A fee for individual classes is set each year. For more information, call the main school office. Curriculum/Textbooks: Upon request, a current listing of our textbooks can be supplied to you. In most situations, there are duplicate copies of student texts available on a rental basis to you as a homeschooler. 1.Rental fee per book - $5.00 per book 2.Deposit to be paid in addition to rental fee - the deposit will be refunded when books are turned in satisfactory condition ($30 per book not to exceed $100). 3. Parents requesting consumable items or other books which are not available through RVCS are welcome to come to the school and look through catalogs. Catalogs may not be removed from school property. In addition, administrative assistants are not allowed to order books for home school parents. 4. Each individual family may request only one copy of each textbook that is available. Multiple copies are not permitted. 5. The school reserves the right to recall a textbook should RVCS enrollment increase. Standardized Testing: Each year, the school has a week scheduled for Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). Parents have the option of bringing their child to the school during that week for the test. The testing fee is $50. You can make arrangements for your child by calling the main school office at 366-2432, ext. 120. Also, there are teachers who are willing to administer a standardized test on an individual basis. To secure a list of these individuals, also call the main school office. The testing fee would still be $50. In our opinion, we believe that a child would benefit and have a more accurate test result if he or she is tested individually. Please click here to see other options available through ACSI. Field Trips: At the beginning of each school year, field trips are planned for each of the grade levels. If there is an interest for your child to participate in any of these field trips, a listing can be provided for you. This information includes the places, the academic departments for which the field trip enhances learning, the time of the year in which the field trip is held, and the approximate cost. Once an interest has been indicated to us regarding specific field trips, more detailed information will be sent. Library Usage: We invite home school students and their children to take advantage of our two libraries which are located in the lower and upper school buildings. Please call the school office to secure hours which are available for you to come and check out books. If there are other services for which we could help, please do not hesitate to contact Rick Brown (366-2432, ext. 119) or rbrown@sbcfamily.org and express your request. We thank you for the opportunity to be a partner with you as you home school your child. Requirements for home schooling children in Virginia can be found in §22.1-254.1. Resources for home instruction are listed on the VDOE Private Schools and Home Schooling page at: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/students_parents/private_home/index.shtml.

Roanoke Valley Christian Schools (RVCS) is a private, coeducational, Christian school for students in K2 (pre-kindergarten) through Grade 12 located in Roanoke County. Tax Credit Program RVCS has partnered with FACTS Management Group for all payments. This gives families access to their account 24 hours a day. They have customer service representatives available to answer questions when the school office is closed. All families are required to register for a FACTS account. Multiple payment plans are available for your consideration (see below). Once you have chosen the desired plan, appropriate charges can be added for your children by the school administration. This becomes your Service Agreement with RVCS. Other items included in the Service Agreement are the curriculum fee, security fee, dual enrollment fee(s), and School of Music fee if applicable. Additional charges such as lunch, field trips, after school care, athletic fees or other possible miscellaneous charges, will be billed on a monthly basis through the Service Billing contract on your FACTS account. SERVICE AGREEMENT The Online enrollment (registration) fee will be billed during the enrollment process through FACTS SIS. Payment is necessary to hold one’s spot as a student at RVCS and is non-refundable. Curricular fees will be billed once accounts are finalized for the coming school year. The FACTS Management Group charges an annual usage fee based on the payment plan selected that will be billed at the same time as curricular fees when accounts are finalized. 1. Tuition Payment plan (aka Service Agreement) options are: Monthly payments beginning in August and ENDING in MAY – ACH/CC or Invoice Monthly payments beginning in August and ENDING in JUNE – ACH/CC or Invoice (A FACTS Annual Enrollment Fee of $55 is due upon finalization of either above plan) Annual Payments – Full Payment made in August - ACH/CC or Invoice Semi-Annual Payments – 2 payments made in August & January - ACH/CC or Invoice (A FACTS Annual Enrollment Fee of $25 is due upon finalization of these plans) Please note : The default due date for tuition payments is scheduled on the 20th of the month. Parents who desire a different payment date may contact the Business Office to make this request. FACTS customer service is available 24/7 (1-866-441-4637) or chat online anytime. Parents may choose to use any method of payment (ACH, Credit Card or Invoice) as long as the account remains current. ACH (Automated Check Handling) is our recommended method for ease of payment, best security, and least amount of total cost. Partial payments can be made in advance of the due date if weekly or biweekly payments are needed. 2. Incidental Billing (aka Service Billing) is processed separately from tuition. Charges for (lunch, Before/Extended Care, athletic fees, field trips, etc.) will be processed on the 25th of each month and due on the 5th of the following month. When the 25th falls in the middle of a billing week, that week of charges will be processed the following month. A final incidental billing will be posted in June for any end of year charges falling after the period posted in May. Balances will be due no later than the end of June. 3. Late Payments will incur a fee for tuition and/or Incidental payments. Parents can work out changes in payments with the Business Office prior to due dates in order to avoid late fees. Changes are not possible within 48 business hours of due date. At any time during the school year, the FACTS Parent Portal may be closed and report cards and/or school records (transcripts and diplomas) may be held until all fees (tuition, lunch charges, athletics fees, etc.) have been paid and overdue library books returned. Delinquent Accounts : Families will be contacted by the accounting office for accounts that are between 1-30 days past due. The goal will be to make these current as soon as possible. At 31-60 days, a delinquent account will require families to meet with the Business Administrator and an appropriate plan will be put in place to remedy all past due charges. Deviation from proposed plan or lack of proper communication could lead to student withdrawal. 4. Early Withdrawal : RVCS understands that families decide to withdraw their students from time to time for a variety of reasons. Roanoke Valley Christian Schools (RVCS) makes a financial commitment to each enrolled family for the full academic year, allocating resources and planning based on expected enrollment. In the event of a student’s withdrawal, one’s tuition will be prorated to the actual number of days of attendance based on a 180-day school calendar. In addition, a $500 withdrawal fee will be assessed to help offset the costs associated with this commitment. This fee applies to any student who withdraws after enrollment is confirmed. For questions regarding withdrawals, please contact the school office. *Dual Credit Fees cannot be refunded by RVCS. These funds are paid directly to the college to participate in the program and receive college credit. **All Supplementary Learning Programs (e.g., Executive Function Coaching, Educational Therapy, etc.) charges will be prorated to the number of days of attendance. Information on these programs can be found here. ***Eagles’ Wings School of Music charges are per semester and are non-refundable once a semester begins. BIBLICAL TEACHING ON FINANCES The Bible gives abundant counsel in the proper handling of finances. RVCS is committed to obedience to this counsel as provided in Scripture. The practical applications of this are: 1. RVCS is not a lending institution to families. Proverbs 22:7 teaches, “…the borrower is servant to the lender.” We would interpret this to mean that when an account becomes past due, the parent becomes a “servant or slave” to RVCS, the “lender.” It is our desire to serve your family not your family serve us. It is for this reason we do not want you to be financially indebted to us. 2. RVCS encourages proper parental financial planning in advance of enrolling your child(ren) in school. Christian education requires a financial investment. Plan in advance to meet your financial commitment in full and on time. This allows us to do the same. Luke 14:28 teaches, “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?” 3. RVCS encourages communication between the parents and school to allow a clear understanding and spirit of cooperation in regard to special financial situations. Isaiah 55:8 teaches, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord.” Your family may be experiencing a financial testing which has resulted in your inability to maintain a current account. Please, let us know right away! This will allow us to consider possible alternatives. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES The communication and decision process in special financial situations is as follows: · Business Office - RVCS FACTS Administrator · Business Administrator – final decision · Shenandoah Baptist Elders – final appeal In an effort to avoid a “servant/lender” relationship, the following restrictions and penalties will be applied to delinquent accounts: · Records/Diplomas will be held until all accounts are paid in full. · Past due accounts must be paid before any student is permitted to begin a new school year. · All payments will be applied to the oldest balances carried. 2025-2026 Tuition/Fees: K2-K4 (5 full days): $8,290 K2-K4 (3 full days): $5,800 K2-K4 (2 full days): $4,145 K2-K4 (5 half days): $6,220 K2-K4 (3 half days): $3,480 K2-K4 (2 half days): $2,485 Grades K5 - 6: $8,290 Grades 7-12: $9,240 Many families qualify for SCHOLARSHIPS reducing the tuition as listed above. For details contact the Director of Development. Tuition is payable on an annual, semi-annual, or monthly basis. Fees (per student annually): Enrollment / Registration Fee *: $100/$150 (Current/New Student) Curricular Fee : $125 Security Fee : $95 New Student Additional Fees : Application : $22 Testing Fee : $50 A testing fee of $50.00 per individual is billed at the time of testing for new students, but only necessary if a recent standardized testing report is not available. *The registration fee is due at the time of enrollment or re-enrollment, and is non-refundable. 2026-2027 TUITION/FEES Tuition Caps 3 Children - $20,000 4 Children - $21,000 5 Children - $22,000 6 Children - $23,000 7 Children - $24,000
